Modern executive practice tends more and more to have a “philological” approach towards the ancient music, that involves a greater adherence to the executive practices of the time as well as to the use of original instruments.

For this motive the record labels, since the Sixties, have had the tendency to distinguish according to a principle that follows the logic of the authentic performance (original interpretation).

This Collection is composed by documents respectful of the authentic performance (original interpretation), since it is considered the more appropriated to represent the style and the intentions of the ancient authors.

In very rare cases, for some arrangements considered important but available only in version of modern orchestra, we have made a choice of the edition that criticism has judge the more appropriate.

It is necessary besides to underline that in the collection are represented all the most important medieval codes, of the Renaissance, Baroque and Classicism present in the archives, libraries and museums of the world.
